Potassium formate is a colorless transparent liquid or white solid, easy to absorb moisture, with reducibility, can react with a strong oxidant, density of 1.9100g/cm3, soluble in water, saturated solution specific gravity of 1.58g/cm3, non-toxic and non-corrosive. Heating carbon monoxide with potassium hydroxide yields potassium formate, which is further acidified and distilled.

1. Widely used in oil field industry as drilling fluid, completion fluid and workover fluid with excellent performance.
