White powder. It has a foul smell similar to chlorine gas. Dissolve in water. Bleaching powder chemical formula CaCl2·Ca(ClO)2·2H2O, white powder substance, its composition varies with the preparation conditions, is generally a hydrated double salt composed of calcium hypochlorite, calcium chloride and unreacted calcium hydroxide, its effective component is calcium hypochlorite.
