Menthol is a terpenoid organic compound with the chemical formula C10H20O. Menthol is a white crystal extracted from the leaves and stems of peppermint. It is the main component of essential oil of peppermint and peppermint. Menthol generally has two isomers (type D and type L), the natural menthol is mainly left-handed isomer (L-menthol). Menthol is used as an aromatic agent in toothpastes, perfumes, drinks and sweets.
