Glacial acetic acid also known as acetic acid or acetic acid, , has the chemical formula CH3COOH. It is an organic monoprotic acid and is the source of the sour taste and pungent smell in vinegar. Pure anhydrous acetic acid (glacial acetic acid) is a colorless hygroscopic liquid with a freezing point of 16.7ºC (62ºF), and it solidifies into a colorless crystal.
