2-methyl-2,4-pentanediol (MPD) is a diol organic compound with one chiral carbon atom. It is a colorless liquid at room temperature and can be hydrogenated from diacetone alcohol. It appears as a colorless liquid with a mild sweet taste. It is miscible with water, miscible with ethanol and soluble in most organic solvents.
